Port of Amsterdam

Last updated: 15-03-2017

The Amsterdam Port area ranks among Europe's five biggest maritime hubs and handles 87 million metric tons of cargo annually. Amsterdam is the world's busiest cocoa port, Europe's largest port for fuel exports and Europe's second largest port for coal imports.

Over 100 sea cruise vessels come through the Port of Amsterdam each year. The Port of Amsterdam is one facet of the unique seaport-airport-city tripod. Just a 20‑minute drive away is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, one of Europe’s largest intercontinental airports, and the City of Amsterdam, a renowned center of culture, entertainment and history.

The Amsterdam port authority, ‘Port of Amsterdam’, is part of the local government. Port of Amsterdam operates, manages and develops the whole port area.
